Information Design
Visualizing the Structure of a Non-Linear Film
Abstract
This project was created for DESN313 Information Design. The goals are to synthesize, organize and display the complex structure and key components of a non-linear film that invites the viewer to navigate the information.
The use of text is limited in its capacity to convey complex information because it promotes a linear and sequential way of thinking. Visual diagrams help organize abstract thought and concepts into something tangible to encourage the eye to compare and see relationships among the information. Diagrams are dynamic and multi-layered and expose structures that cannot be represented in pure linear text forms. (Tufte, 199)
