Author Guidelines

Eligibility

  • This journal is primarily open to current undergraduate students attending MacEwan University, however, works by students from elsewhere will be considered.
  • All student work must have been produced under the mentorship, guidance, or supervision of a faculty member. This can include coursework.
  • Students must secure the endorsement of a faculty member who can verify that these conditions have been met. See the following Submission Process section for details.

Submission Process

  1. Ensure you have the endorsement of a faculty member before you submit. This faculty member will be required to submit a Faculty Endorsement Letter before your work will be posted.
  2. Register or Log In and follow the step-by-step instructions. All work must be submitted online. (See below for submission file requirements.) During the submission process, you will be asked to provide an "abstract" for your work. Please have 3-5 sentences describing your work ready for this.

Submission Files and Formatting

Written Work

  • Written submissions should be in a format readable and editable by Microsoft Office (e.g., .docx, .doc, or .ppt).
  • Written work should be formatted in either APA or ASA style. The MacEwan University Library’s reference guides can be found here.

Audio and Visual Files

  • Files other than written work should be submitted as a JPG file, or as an MP3 file (no larger than 64MB), as appropriate. Due to technological constraints, video file submissions cannot be submitted using the journal submission form. If you are interested in submitting a video, please email crossingborders@macewan.ca for assistance.
  • A brief (250-350 words) written description of the work must also be included with the submission. This may describe the creator’s intent, provide meaningful creative or scholarly context to the work, function as an abstract for the work, or some combination of the above.
