About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Committing Sociology: An Undergraduate Research Journal is an undergraduate research journal dedicated to showcasing rigorous, critical, and original sociological scholarship. The journal provides a platform for MacEwan University undergraduate students and alumni in Sociology to engage deeply with sociological theory, research methods, and empirical analysis, highlighting work that examines social structures, power relations, inequality, culture, and social change. Committing Sociology values diverse methodological approaches and theoretical perspectives, with particular attention to research that is ethically grounded, socially engaged, and attentive to marginalized voices.

Through editorial review and faculty mentorship, the journal aims to support students in developing professional research and academic writing skills while contributing meaningfully to ongoing sociological debates. Committing Sociology reflects a commitment to sociology as a discipline that not only interprets the social world, but actively questions, critiques, and seeks to transform it.
