Author Guidelines

  • This journal is primarily open to current undergraduate students attending the Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum Studies (BECCS) program at MacEwan University.
  • All student work must have been produced under the mentorship, guidance, or supervision of a faculty member. This can include coursework.
  • Students must secure the endorsement of a faculty member who can verify that these conditions have been met. See the following Submission Process section for details.

Submission Process

  1. Ensure you have the endorsement of a faculty member before you submit. This faculty member will be required to submit a Faculty Endorsement Letter before your work will be posted.
  2. Register or Log In and follow the step-by-step instructions. All work must be submitted online. (See below for submission file requirements.) During the submission process, you will be asked to provide an "abstract" for your work. Please have 3-5 sentences describing your work ready for this.

Submission Files and Formatting

Written Work

  • Written submissions should be in a format readable and editable by Microsoft Office (e.g., .docx, .doc, or .ppt).
  • Written work should be formatted in APA 7 Ed. style. The MacEwan University Library’s reference guides can be found here.

Audio and Visual Files

  • Files other than written work should be submitted as a JPG file, an MP3 file for audio files, or as an MP4 file for videos (no larger than 64MB), as appropriate. Due to technological constraints, video file submissions cannot be submitted using the journal submission form. If you are interested in submitting a video, please email for assistance.
  • A brief (250-350 words) written description of the work must also be included with the submission. This may describe the creator’s intent, provide meaningful creative or scholarly context to the work, function as an abstract for the work, or some combination of the above.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • You have reviewed the Faculty Endorsement Letter and are prepared to send a copy of this letter to a faculty member who has agreed to endorse your work.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, PDF, or RTF document. If you would like to submit something in video format, please contact the Editorial Team at for assistance.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
